Kelsie Kimberlin – American Guns (Official Video) | Satire on U.S. Gun Violence Culture

American Guns uses satire juxtaposed with graphic Scorsese-type footage to point out the schizophrenic and cognitive disassociative way in which Americans deal with gun violence. Thirty thousand Americans die every year from gun violence, and most mass shootings are committed by people shooting weapons of war. People have gotten numb to the violence and much of the media and some politicians treat the killings as entertainment or as political props. This has got to change because human life is the most important factor.

In the video, we see the banal way people react to violence, some people see it as a spectacle for paparazzi, others, like the model, are clueless to it all, others dance and play music while the shooting takes place, and the spectator who sees the man get shot says it’s no big deal because people are taking pictures and he is going to buy a car. At the end, the reference to winning the video game with the map of the USA and the flashing 30,000 number of dead Americans puts it all in perspective.

Now with our ammo
are we protecting all of the world
while we are shooting
so many people with our weapons of war
with all of our ammo
we are not really protecting ourselves
killing our treasure
leaving everyone of us broken inside

American guns
shooting just for fun
got ‘em on the run
we are number one
with our imperial guns
cause it’s so much fun
hunting everyone
keeps ‘em on the run

Some of our children
now consider life as simply nothing at all
and they are shooting
‘cause they got their hands on a weapon of war
leaving the families
torn up in pieces all over the place
losing the battle
while we are also losing ourselves

American guns
shooting just for fun
got ‘em on the run
we are number one
with our imperial guns
cause it’s so much fun
hunting everyone
keeps ‘em on the run

Oh my God!
they’ll fucking kill you!
oh no, this is real!
kill you
oh no no
oh no no
oh no

We got our finger on the trigger
itching just to use our firepower
sneeze and we’ll vaporize your body
turns us on, turns us on
we really get off on our weapons
loving all the sound of big explosions
can’t wait till we can pull the trigger
execute
shoot ‘em up

America, a shining city on the hill

American guns
shooting just for fun
got ‘em on the run
we are number one
with our imperial guns
cause it’s so much fun
hunting everyone
keeps ‘em on the run

American sons
shoot American guns
American sons
we are number one
American sons
shoot American guns
American sons
shoot American guns
we are number one

Bang bang shoot shoot
