“What We Had” is all about moving on when a relationship does not bring you the joy and satisfaction you deserve. However, the song can be interpreted to relate to any type of relationship that has gone bad. Why stay in a rut when life is short and emotional bandwidth is limited?
In the video, I painted my nails in the colors of Ukraine to show my strong love and support for my brave and courageous country, which is also moving on from a toxic relationship.
Thanks to all who participated in the video.
Kelsie Kimberlin – What We Had
What we had, up in smoke, new canvass, painting strokes
Rearview blank, empty chair, missing space, downward stares
Blew it up, still I tried, water dried, flowers died
No more fire here, ashes black and seared, it all disappeared
Oh, I know that you’re really hurtin’ over me C
but I been getting the feeling that I want to be free (Finally)
I am not a tire swing, another play thing, another fling
I’ve gotta feel good thinking about me
Ohhhhh, this is real, how I feel
Ohhhhh, you can’t change, how I feel
It was so hard to find my way back home
But it’s best now that I’m all alone (Without you)
It’s your loss, and my gain, single bed, once again
Got my dog, loves me dear, unlike you, always here
Betrayed by your words, nothing said was true,
Listened but not heard, thankful we are through
Oh, I know that you’re really hurtin’ over me
but I been getting the feeling that I want to be free (Finally)
I am not a tire swing, another play thing, another fling
I’ve gotta feel good thinking about me
Ohhhhh, this is real, how I feel
Ohhhhh, you can’t change, how I feelx2
What we had, up in smoke, new canvass, painting strokes
No more fire here, ashes black and seared, it all disappeared.
